Florida Airports
The Orlando area is serviced mainly by two airports, Orlando International and Sanford. Orlando airport is situated about twenty minutes drive from our villa and Sanford a further thirty minutes north. Orlando International is a very large airport with its own internal monorail for transferring passengers but it normally takes longer to reclaim your baggage than at Sanford airport, which is smaller but you can still pick up your vehicle right outside the arrivals lounge.
Flights to Orlando area are either non-stop which takes around 8-8.5 hours, or stop-over which can take an additional two hours because you normally go through customs procedures at the stop-over airport such as in Newark. Generally we have found it better to travel direct non-stop. Virgin Atlantic fly direct to Orlando International while many other charter flights land at Sanford. Just make sure that you are getting a non-stop flight if that is what you want.
